Orange Gives Back | Give Kids the World Village

Last Sunday, a group of us served breakfast to over 400 residents and around 150 families who were staying at the village, and it was truly rewarding.  The children can eat ice cream at any time of the day, create their own waffles, ride the carousel, create arts and crafts and so much more!

A few of us also volunteered in the Castle of Miracles.  We helped the children place their star into the galaxy of stars that are mounted on the ceilings of the castle from each child that has ever stayed at the village.  Their families are able to see where their children’s star is the very next day, and there are more than 100,000 stars throughout the Give Kids the World Village!  Members of our team also helped the children get their Magic Pillow from Hermes, a digital Owl that lives in a magical oak tree just outside the Castle of Miracles.

After our early morning volunteering and being surrounded by colorful and tempting rides, we decided to have a little fun for ourselves! We had a blast riding the carousel, playing in the park and taking a tour of the rest of the village. While on our tour, we saw that the Give Kids the World Village is planning a huge expansion in the upcoming years and recently purchased the land to begin this development.

Entering this volunteer opportunity, we hoped to touch a few lives of the children and families who were visiting the village. While gathering our belongings and beginning to leave the village, we all came to the conclusion they have also touched our lives. These children and families, who have gone through so much, were so strong and had such a bright outlook on life. We always look forward to going to the Give Kids the World Village and will continue to go back and volunteer at this magical wonderland for many years to come!
