Pumpkin Season is Here!

‘Tis that time of year again! Pumpkin season, that is! Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and liquor stores everywhere have been releasing their pumpkin beverages. If you are like me, you have been counting the days to get your pumpkin fix. When the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte was released, I went not once, but twice to get my cravings cured!

The pumpkin season is not long, so get your pumpkin fix in while you can! If you are a pumpkin lover like myself, spice up your fall with these delicious pumpkin beverage recipes:

Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • 1 cup milk, divided
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar, or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup brewed espresso

Whisk ½ cup milk, sugar, pumpkin puree, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan over low heat. Simmer for 5 minutes. Whisk in remaining ½ cup milk.

Pour milk mixture through a fine- mesh sieve to remove pulp. Return milk mixture to saucepan and simmer, whisk for about 2 minutes. Add espresso and whisk until foamy for 1 minute.

Pumpkin Beertail

  • 3 parts pumpkin beer of your choice
  • 2 parts hard apple cider
  • 1 part sparkling cider

Mix together and add a cinnamon stick to infuse the flavor. Top with a dash of pumpkin pie spice to add some pizzazz.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

  • 2 tablespoons protein powder (whey or egg white)
  • 1 tablespoon flax seed oil
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • ½ banana
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup ice

Total calories: 312

Blend all ingredients together and serve.
