The American public has come together once again to have fun while making a difference for children around the world. Red Nose Day returns for the second year in the United States on May 26th; and Orange Legal made such a big difference in year one, we are excited to come back for round two!
Comic Relief is the organization that originally created Red Nose Day. Since its launch in 1988, Red Nose Day has become tradition in the United Kingdom before taking off in the United States. The first Red Nose Day was celebrated in Ethiopia, where comedian Lenny Henry, a group of children and over 150 celebrities took part as 30 million people watched. The event generated over 15 million euros (about $16.9 million) to help less fortunate children.
In its first year of action in the United States, Red Nose Day USA generated over $23 million to make a difference for children across the globe. Since its start in the 1980’s, Comic Relief has generated over 600 million Euros (about $670 million) to help children of less fortunate families across the globe. Red Nose Day has sparked the interest of numerous organizations from across the globe and is expected to generate over 100 million euros again this year!
