Yesterday Representative Ron Kind of Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district stood before the members of congress and spoke in recognition of NCRA’s National Court Reporting and Captioning Week. Throughout his speech, Representative Kind mentions the hard work of court reporters, their dedication to the practice, and specifically praises NCRA court reporters in their efforts to transcribe veterans’ stories through the Veterans History Project, recording their stories and experiences in the Armed Forces.
Throughout his speech, he also refers to a new project being conducted by the NCRA called the Hard of Hearing Heroes Project, which is being supported by realtime captioning. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 60% of veterans suffer some degree of hearing loss while serving our country. The Hard of Hearing Heroes Project aims to bring a sense of normalcy to the veterans that have suffered while fighting for our country.
Representative Kind closes his speech by thanking the NCRA for their contributions to our veterans and the hardworking court reporters of our country. If you have an interest in court reporting for Orange Legal, check out our page, Reporting with Orange Legal.
